Sony Xperia M4 Aqua and M5 getting Android Marshmallow update

The update has only started rolling out via OTA, so it might take a couple of days to get to your device.

An Android 6.0 Marshmallow is rolling out to Sony Xperia M4 Aqua and Xperia M5 smartphones.

Sony Mobile has begun to roll the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow firmware update for the Xperia M4 Aqua and M4 Aqua Dual SIM smartphone. New build number 26.3.A.0.131 has currently been released across select regions for most of the Xperia M4 Aqua variants.

Sony Mobile is currently seeding Android Marshmallow firmware for the Xperia M5, in the form of build number 30.2.A.0.100. The latest build has only arrived on the Xperia M5 E5603 variant so far, but one can expect it to hit all variants, including the Xperia M5 Dual shortly.

Smartphones will be getting the standard Marshmallow update features, which include Doze mode, granular permissions as well as Google Now on Tap, which can provide contextual information based on what is on the screen. Android 6.0.1 also comes with features that are designed to extend battery life.
