182 iPhones seized from smugglers at Delhi airport in India 7 men held

Grey market dealers in India are reportedly trying to earn extra money in on the hype of the latest iPhones by selling devices smuggled in from Hong Kong and Singapore.

Recently seven men have seized at the Indira Gandhi International airport, Delhi trying to sneak in 182 iPhones in their baggage illegally.

Vinayak Azaad, Additional Commissioner and Custom said “We caught them on suspicion while they were trying to pass through the Green Channel. We found total 182 iPhones includes iPhone 6S and 6S Plus in their baggage and we have seized all devices from them .”

Customs and security officials says all these are a Indian origin and age of them are near 20 years who had come from Hong Kong and Singapore on separate flights, Received the inputs from intelligence agencies about the youths arriving in different flights with parts of the consignment stuffed in their hand baggage. A search was conducted and they were nabbed and taken for questioning.

They claimed to be from foreign university’s students which is being verified. They have been detained at the airport police station currently.

Official said that “There are a chances of smuggling of iPhone 6S and 6S Plus before of their initial launch which is still 12 days away.”
