Xiaomi had introduced the Mi 4 in August 2014 and it has been said that the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 5 will be the first smartphone to carry the latest chipset from Qualcomm.
According to a recent rumor the Xiaomi Mi 5 will be the first smartphone to make use of Qualcomm’s ultrasound fingerprint recognition technology, which is supported by the Snapdragon 820. Company said that ultrasonic sensors not only improve the accuracy but also eliminate the need for a capacitive sensor. Qualcomm markets this as the Snapdragon Sense ID 3D Fingerprint technology. The ultrasonic technology creates a 3D map of your fingers including the micro-ridges of your skin. According to company ultrasonic sensor can even recognize fingerprints through metal, glass or plastic.
Qualcomm is expected to launch the Snapdragon 820 processor somewhere in December and will make its way into new devices launched by April 2016.
The Xiaomi Mi5 has been expected to arrive somewhere in Q1 2016. However a recent reports suggested that the Xiaomi Mi5 smartphone could be unveiled on November this year if Qualcomm launches the Snapdragon 820 processor in time.
