Finally, Samsung launched the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ smartphones at the Galaxy Unpacked 2015 event in New York today. President and CEO of IT & Mobile Division of Samsung Electronics “JK Shin” launched the both smartphone and said “We believed in the promise that large screen smartphones could actively address some major consumers pain points by providing users with a better viewing experience and more productivity on-the-go.”
In terms of hardware both Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge+ share the same hardware. Both the devices have a 5.7-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display with pixel density of 518ppi. The Galaxy S6 edge+ sports a dual curved screen like Galaxy S6 Edge while the Note 5 has flat display.
Both features a 16 MP rear camera with OIS, f/1.9 aperture and optical image stabilization along with a 5 MP front camera.
Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy s6 Edge+ comes with fingerprint scanners and live Broadcast feature.
The new S6 edge+’s edge screen can be used to pin five apps you want along with contacts. While the Note 5 comes with an improved S Pen. Samsung says the new stylus features a one-click mechanism to eject the pen. New and improved features include the ability to take notes without unlocking the phone, and an updated Air Command feature that shows a hovering icon for quick access to stylus tools.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ will be available in 32 GB and 64 GB. But the disappointing thing is that both have no microSD card slots to expand memory.
3000mAh non-removable batteries feature “Fast Charging technology” for both wired and wireless (WPC and PMA) options. Samsung says With wired charging device will fully charged in around 90 minutes (1.30 Hours) While wireless charger it will fully charged around 120 minutes (2 Hours).
Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ offers 4G LTE Cat. 9 or Cat. 6 network connectivity modems depending on the market also feature NFC and MST connectivity technology to power the Samsung Pay mobile payment technology.
Samsung also unveiled the Keyboard Covers looks like BlackBerry have for both the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ smartphones.
Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ both devices will be available in select countries by the end of the month while other countries will get these devices in September.
