Lycos is one of the leading internet brand, has announced that it is launching a new line of wearable devices smart wristband and ring.
Lycos will have an app that resides on your smartphone or tablet. The app transfers notifications for new message or call to the smart wristband or ring. The wristband features to intelligently sense individuals everyday patterns and transfer this information securely and wirelessly to their phone via Bluetooth and its Tap to Transfer (T2T) communication protocol. The wearable device allows users to automatically monitor their activity, sleep, heart rate, incoming calls, and important notifications from their phone completely hands-free.
The Lycos wearable band is actually a fitness tracker with heart rate, step-counting and automatic sleep tracking equipped with OLED display and a promised 12-14 day battery life. It also featured with personal security elements can manage your passwords via a Lycos Life app and can be used to unlock your phone.
While the Ring only has security and tap-to-transfer features. The ring doesn’t even have a battery, just built-in NFC chips that store data.
The company is also launching a project will use the sensor and wireless communication technology to provide people with access to critical, life-saving information such as the quality of water and air in their homes.
Lycos president and chief strategy officer Brad Cohen says “The most valuable commodity in life is time and this technology helps Lycos Life users maximize their time by making smarter and more informed decisions using the data they receive from Lycos Life,”
The devices, which will be launched in the US today and in India next week, are priced at $124,99 for the wristband and $59.99 for the ring.
