Kenwood has announced that its first multimedia car receivers with support for Apple’s CarPlay and Google’s Android Auto. In January Kenwood introduced its DDX9902S and DDX9702S multimedia receivers featuring Apple’s CarPlay and Google’s Android Auto. Kenwood yesterday said DDX9902S and DDX9702S are now shipping to retailers with the suggested retail price set at $900 (DDX9702S) and $950 (DDX9902S).
Kenwood has now joins Pioneer and Alpine that began offering the CarPlay software option last year.
According to Kenwood, These new devices are the only receivers that can switch between CarPlay and Android Auto without needing to reset or manually change settings on current market.
These both devices have a 6.95 inch resistive touchscreen display with navigation and back up camera support, HDMI input, CD/DVD, Radio, come with Bluetooth for handsfree phone use or streaming media playback and SiriusXM support. An external GPS antenna for more accurate Navigation in cities and other GPS challenged areas. This receiver also supports phone swapping. To change from an Android phone to an iPhone simply plug it in, there are no setting changes needed. This is a very important feature for families with both Android and iPhone devices.
