Zopo Today has launched Speed 8 smartphone in India at price of Rs 29,999 (Approx $446 USD). The Speed 8 was globally launched in February 2016 in Barcelona, Spain. Company is touting Speed 8 as the “world’s first Deca-Core Smartphone”. However, before its official launch in country, the smartphone has been seen listed on Amazon India for Rs 31,500 and being sold by ADCOM.

Zopo Speed 8 will be available via both online and offline channels from Wednesday. The highlight of the Zopo’s Speed 8 smartphone is the claim of it being the first to sport MediaTek’s deca-core Helio X20 MT6797 SoC. Zopo Speed 8 comes with fingerprint scanner and supports NFC.

Charles Bird, Brand Manager, Zopo Mobile said, “The speed of the fingerprint scanner in this device is as good as any other phone out there.”

Zopo Speed 8 features a 5.5-inch 1080p HD display with 5 point capacitive screen. It is powered by a 64-bit Deca-core MediaTek Helio X20 (MT6797) processor with 4 GB RAM. Speed 8 comes with a 32 GB inbuilt memory which can be further expanded up to 64 GB.

Speed 8 offers 21-megapixel rear camera with a dual-LED flash featured by a Sony IMX230 sensor with f/2.2 aperture. And an 8-megapixel camera at the front with LED flash as well, an f/2.0 aperture and a OV8856 sensor.

Zopo Speed 8 is a dual-SIM (Nano-SIM card + Nano-SIM card) smartphone that supports 4G SIM cards. The connectivity options include 4G, Bluetooth 4.1, NFC, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS/ A-GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, Type-C USB port and FM radio.

Zopo Speed 8 is powered by 3,600 mAH battery which company says to offer 10 hours of talk-time. The Zopo Speed 8 is running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and comes with an accelerometer, gyroscope, ambient light sensor, magnetometer and proximity sensor.

Zopo Speed 8 measures 152.5 x 76.35 x 9.8 mm and weighs 164 grams. The smartphone is available in Black and White colors.

Sanjeev Bhatia, Founder & Chairman of Adcom said, “People in India do not buy phones worth Rs 30,000. It’s a niche product and we only expect to sell a few thousand units every month. We have already penetrated into 50 per cent of the Indian market, and expect to be Pan-India by the next quarter. With a Deca-Core processor, Speed 8 does not have a competition in the market, it is the first phone of its kind. The pricing of the phone in India is similar to its price in Spain, where Zopo is a very popular brand. ”

Zopo is going to launch the offline sales of its smartphones in New Delhi and expect around 5,00 dealers to be part of the event.
