Intex Aqua Fish launched in India for Rs. 5499 with Sailfish 2.0 OS

Intex also became the first company in the world to license Sailfish OS 2.0.

Today Intex India has launched the Aqua Fish smartphone, which is said to be the world’s first licenced Sailfish OS smartphone running on Jolla’s Sailfish 2.0 OS. Intex Aqua Fish as of now exclusively available via eBay India at Rs. 5,499. However, It will become available on Flipkart, Snapdeal and Amazon very soon.

Intex Aqua Fish features a 5-inch HD 720p TFT display and is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 212, MSM8909 processor with 2 GB of DDR3 RAM. The smartphone have a 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash alongside a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. It comes with a 16 GB of inbuilt storage, which can be expanded via microSD card up to 32GB.

The Intex Aqua Fish is a dual SIM smartphone supports 4G LTE connectivity along with Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, and Micro-USB 2.0.

The smartphone is powered by a 2,500 mAh battery and runs on Sailfish OS 2.0. It will be available in Black and Orange colors variants. Intex Aqua Fish is equipped with Plastic body measuring 142.4 x 72 x 9.6 mm and weighs 150 grams.

At MWC event in Shanghai in June last year, Intex had announced its partnership with Jolla and its plans to launch a Sailfish smartphone within a few months. Jolla had introduced its Sailfish OS 2.0 at MWC in Barcelona last year. The updated OS brings an improved UI and new software integration capabilities for partners. Swiping left or right from the multitasking view in Sailfish OS 2.0 brings up partner spaces, which the company uses to monetise its OS.
