The sequel of the world’s first ethical sourced smartphone “Fairphone 2” has launched in the UK at a price of £395.00.
Fairphone was able to raise about $8.3 million in 2013 to launch its first ethically sourced smartphones means components made with minerals from conflict zones, improve working conditions for factory staff in China and reduce e-waste.
Company is also said Fairphone 2 to be the ‘first modular smartphone’, But Fairphone 2 isn’t alone in the modular smartphone scene, Google has been working on for years now with Project Ara. However, Google in August delayed the announced launch of its much-anticipated Project Ara modular smartphones until 2016.
Fairphone 2 is available on per-order for price of EUR 529.38 and will begin shipping December.
Thr specifications of the Fairphone 2 includes a 5-inch full-HD LCD TFT display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass and it is powered by 2.26GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of inbuilt storage.
Fairphone 2 is a dual-SIM based smartphone supports 2G, 3G, and 4G LTE. It spots an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front camera and it is powered by 2,420mAh battery.
Company has also announced that it is collaborating with Jolla to support the operating system for the Fairphone 2 smartphone. Fairphone and Jolla will release a customized version of the Sailfish OS for the handset. But till then the Fairphone 2 will run on Android 5.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box.
Th Fairphone 2 is launching in select European countries in December 2015 and will arrive in other countries by 2016.
